MCKENZIE STYLC
Mood & Color
Unedited Photos
People associate many emotions and feelings with colors. For example, red is aggression, orange is neutral, yellow is happy, green is jealousy, blue is sad, and purple is power. Throughout the brainstorming process I wanted to express the emotions but have the colors vibrant enough so the viewer knows which color is being expressed. To get the color to show bright in the photo I put tissue paper in front of the lights.
Before taking the photos I had to plan out the way the subject would express each emotion/ action. For the red photo the subject crossed their arms to show how they are closed off and angry toward others. For the orange photo, it represents a happy medium between yellow and red, so the subject of the photo was happy like someone would be on an everyday basis. For the yellow photo, I had the subject laugh to represent the happiness they are feelings. For the green photo, I had the subject look over their shoulder in an envious and jealous way, like they are looking at someone else and wanting to be like them. For the blue photo, I had the subject look like they were crying to represent them being sad. For the purple photo, I had the subject wear a crown and stand up straight to represent power.
While in the photoshoot I made sure the subject was wearing a plain white shirt so the color would not only transfer to the background of the photo but also look as if they were wearing the color. By having all components of the photo the color that it was representing is the best way to express the message of how colors relate to moods, emotions and actions in people’s lives.
